Annoy-A-Tron really does ANNOY!
March 25th, 2008 - 02:49amSo last week I purchased an Annoy-A-Tron from ThinkGeek. A small device which emites a beeping noise every 2-8 minutes to annoy someone...

I just emailed them the following to say thanks.
Last week on Thursday my Annoy-A-Tron arrived, and towards the end of the day my Manager told me to go get a few beers, I promptly told him “No I'm busy, you go get me a beer!”.
The second he turned the corner and was out of site, I raced into his office and deployed the Annoy-A-Tron.
My manager arrived back a few minutes later and handed me a beer and went back to his office. From my desk I can see him sitting in his office, the wall is glass. After a few minutes it made its first beep while in his presence.
The third time it happened he looked up, picks up his stereo remote, turns around and goes to turn off the stereo, only to realise that it is already turned off.
For the next hour every time it went off he would look around, during this time he had 2 people come into his office, one of my co-workers who I had not yet included in on the joke asked him what the noise was, in an annoyed tone of voice he said “I have no fucking clue!”.
Over the weekend the people who were in the office thought his computer must have had a power serge and was slowly dying.
Today, on the 6th day, my already stressed manager came into the office, and continues work, and every time it went off you could see him cringe in annoyance. At around 10-30am he left to check up on everyone, again as soon as he was out of sight I raced in and changed the sound.
At noon I went to lunch for an hour, when I came back my team lead told me he had told my manager about it, why? Apparently my manager got really pissed off and was about to go postal, moving stuff on his desk pissed off trying to find the noise, so my team lead being the nice guy he is went in and told him.
About half an hour later when walking back to my desk he looks up and says “THATS NOT FUNNY PHILLIP!”, I couldn’t help but laugh.
My project manager said the manager is going to talk to me tomorrow about the incident.
Stuff!!!!
March 20th, 2008 - 07:16pmWell nothing interesting is happening, I'm working on APL Version 3 (Australian Poker League). Personally I think the website is ugly and inconsistant. But thats just my opinion.
I'm not sure who developed APL Version 2, obviously someone before I started working there, who ever it was, was a no0b. The roles authentication they wrote into the administration is just stupid.
When they create then Authentication Ticket, instead of putting the user role(s) into the UserData, then on the Application_AuthenticateRequest method requesting the userdata and adding it to the GenericPrincipal...
What was happening is he was storing the UserID in the UserData and then on the Application_AuthenticateRequest method he was hitting the database to get the user roles.
I have no idea why it was written like that but not good in my opinion.
Found an intresting issue surrounding Google Maps and the ASP.Net AJAX Modal Popup. When the modal popup happens the map is not centered, this happens if you render the map before the popup is shown.
The solution was to create your own behavior for the Modal Popup which shows the popup the loads the google map. Then it displays perfectly.

TinyMCE & AJAX Update Panel
December 15th, 2007 - 07:55amI used TinyMCE in my administration area for a WYSIWYG editor, which is great and all except I'm also using ASP.Net AJAX Update Panel so I don't need to postback the entire page.
When the Update Panel runs it resets TinyMCE to look like a normal textarea.
Not good, so after searching the net i came accross this post on the TinyMCE forums.
So I inserted the following code at the end of my button event:
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(UpdatePanel1, this.GetType(), "init",
String.Format("tinyMCE.execCommand('mceAddControl', false, '{0}');", htmlBlogEntry.ClientID),
true);
When the Update Panel updates it inserts the JavaScript to run the TinyMCE command to style the TextArea.
I gotz no Interwebs :(
December 7th, 2007 - 11:48pmSo I don't have interweb at my new apartment, so I'm sitting in Orlanda's apartment while shes in Barowl. Using my phone line and doing my washing.
I figured theres no point in transfering my phone because I'm getting a 3 bedroom place with my sister and her boyfriend in a few weeks. Yay yet another move. It's good tho because I don't have to buy a friend, they already have one. Means I can spend my money on something more productive like that 46" Samsung LCD tv I want. The F8, with the free 26" LCD tv.
I had a good week at work, got a lot done and I didn't spend the week yawning and tired. The project I'm working on is coming along nicely, got all the auctions and deals displaying, even tho the Query I wrote was horrible, but it got the data I needed so that I could continue the front end. Gareth is going to re-write the Query.
Ohh, I get my own project in Janurary too, yay I can't wait. It's only a small project, some phamacy online website but I'm still excited that I get my own project.
My mate Taz is hasling me on MSN because I just told him I'm blogging. Oh well, hes black so he is at a disadvantage anyway. Oh that reminds me, I can hassle him now and he can't beat me up because I'm in a different country!!!
Anyway I got nothing to say, cept I love Sarah. Even tho she will probably never see this blog. :)
Over n out!
Flatting with a chick...
December 2nd, 2007 - 06:49pmWow... Something I wont do again for a while.
I move to Australia thinking there wouldn't be as much drama or hassle, and I end up with more drama and hassle than I had to begin with.
So I've pretty much finished moving into my new apartment today. My sister bailed on me. Her and her boyfriend were meant to come help me move today, the heavy stuff like my couch and bed etc, and she didn't show. Not only that neither of them will answer their mobile. Thankfully though my now ex-flatmate's boyfriend Tim helped me move the stuff.
This whole ordeal has made me late for work pretty much this entire week just been and stressed me out.
It's all over now though and I hope i can have a fresh start as of monday. Now i just need to buy a Fridge, Washing Machine, a TV and some shit to cook with!
My First Blog
November 9th, 2007 - 11:51pmHello World!
Well this is pretty much my first proper blog ever. I don't even know if I will ever use this but I figured what the hell, my website will have a blog so that I can post new shit I learn about at work. I guess I can post about other useless shit on my mind while I'm at it too.
Well I've created this blog using the TableAdapters and DataTables in Visual Studio 2005 that I learnt at work and from http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/01/15/435498.aspx
Even though no one will notice this (because no one reads this) the page styling is rooted so I'm off to fix that now.
